Picking the right Ultimate Weapons (UW) has immense impact on your progression in the game. Unfortunately, you are not in complete control as you are offered 3 random UW options that you have to choose from each time. However, there is an unlock order that is widely considered the most optimal.

The recommended UW Unlock Order

DISCLAIMER: Making a UW choice is a big investment with substantial consequences. Never rely on a single guide (including this one) to make your choice. Instead, consult numerous guides and people to get a consistent and clearer view of the UW you ought to pick. And if asking individuals for input, be sure to clarify what UWs you already got, where you are ranking in tournaments, what your short-term goals, etc. Ideally even with screenshot of your UW workshop page. Basically as much info as possible for anyone to give decent advice. Everyone’s tower is different, and just getting a plain blanket answer of “pick that” without the person actually understanding your build could have detrimental consequences.

With the disclaimer out of the way, this is largely considered the best path for the first 5 UWs:

1. Golden Tower (GT)
2. Black Hole (BH)
3. Death Wave (DW)
4. Spotlight (SL)
5. Chain Lightning (CL)
   1. If you have a Dimension Core (DC) module, CL may be a better pick over spotlight (SL).
6. Chrono Field (CF)
7. Smart Missiles (SM)
8. Inner Land Mines (ILM)
   1. I personally think a case can be made for picking ILM before SM, but this will depend on your Legend Tournament situation, the strength of your Chain Lightning and Dimension Core, and whether you are buying Stonepacks or not. If you have a strong CL, are not buying stonepacks and need more crowd control in your Legend tournament, then ILM can be a cheap way to stun bosses. Whereas Smart Missiles require a very large amount of stones to get in a good window.
