Reverse Orb Devo (sometimes referred to as Swirly Orb Devo) is a late game sync farming strategy that uses perma Chrono Field (CF) and Chrono Loop (CF+) to hoard enemies outside tower range to later be killed by a sync activation. The way that this strategy works is with the powerful speed reduction (90%) from CF / CF+ and the synergy it holds with other forms of crowd control (CC).

Introduction

With Reverse Orb Devo, enemies are CC’d outside of your tower range with Chrono Field - Speed Reduction, Shockwave, Land Mine Stun Card, Poison Swamp Stun, etc. Once Black Hole (BH) activates, the hoard of CC’d enemies are pulled from the outside of tower range into your orb line, killing them. What this does is prevent enemies from being killed by your tower until your econ Ultimate Weapons (UWs) and Golden Bot (GB) all activate together for massive coin gains.

The concept for the strategy works in a similar way to Orb Devo except in reverse - hence the name.

Reverse Orb Devo:

As Glass Cannon (GC) during a run, this strategy survives by killing Boss enemies and Normal Enemies with Orbs, stunning Ray enemies with Land Mine, and shredding Scatter, Ray, and Protector enemies with your damage UW of choice.

Why CF+ Is An Important Element to This Strategy?

Chrono Loop (CF+) makes enemies take a nonlinear path towards your tower which increases the distance, and more importantly, the time for enemies to reach your tower range and tower. On top of this, CF+ also provides a hidden extra speed reduction to CF that is not displayed anywhere within the game - that increases as you get more and more CF+. Which all together allows your tower more time to keep enemies from dying before the sync activations.

CF+ can allow you to remove some sources of CC while still keeping the hoarding effect. This is important as Shockwave can actually be detrimental to your farm runs if you are GC. What makes it detrimental is something referred to as “Shockwave Shotguns” or “Protector Shotguns”. Shockwave Shotguns occur when enemies are pushed behind bosses by shockwave then BH activates pushing enemies into bosses which will slingshot bosses towards your tower and past your orbline - making them much more difficult to kill as GC.

While Reverse Orb Devo can be achieved without CF+, CF+ is still a crucial part of this strategy as it allows you to more easily transition into later tiers of farming like Tier 14, Tier 15 and Tier 16 . By forcing bosses to take more hits from Orb Boss Hit and enemies taking longer to get to your tower in general, CF+ will overall make your tower and this strategy stronger.
